Cultivating gratefulness

I woke up at 3 o'clock this morning. I don't like it when that happens. I tried tossing and turning for awhile, but that never seems to work. Does it ever? I wish I could turn my brain off sometimes, but it seems to have a "mind" of its own in the early morning hours.

I have been trying to write down 5 things I am grateful for everyday. Honestly, I have been surprised to find that some days this has not been easy for me to do. I want to change that.
  • I am starting to see signs of Spring finally.  Little glimmers, but it gives me hope.  Winter has been hard and I am so ready for the change of season.
  • My new boss seems to be a really nice guy. This is a big relief for everyone in the office.
  • I received enough money back on my income taxes to replace my failing refrigerator! Yay!
  • My oldest daughter and I both hurt and disappointed each other, but with God's help, we are working through it. Words cannot express how thankful I am for that.
  • I love to read, both fiction and nonfiction. Right now I am reading Jan Karon's book, In the Company of Others:  A Father Tim Novel"!  His character is such a kindred spirit, and I love going on another adventure with him.
What are you grateful for today?
